Osborne Books Sponsors Young Enterprise in Romania

Osborne Books Sponsors Young Enterprise in Romania

Osborne Books recently sponsored a Young Enterprise company 'Vision' who represented the UK West Midlands area at the European Trade Fair, Bucharest, exhibiting their products based on photographic prints. Marketing Director Sarah Fardon (pictured right) commented: "The trade fair was a fantastic learning experience for everyone; we learnt a lot about product choice and versatility, as well as methods of marketing and sales. With our stall set up in a long line of similar stalls in a city centre mall, it was incredible to be trading alongside and meeting young entrepreneurs from all over Europe."

Educational publisher celebrates 21 years of success

The founder and Managing Director, Mike Fardon, published Osborne Books' first accounting book, 'Finance', in 1986. This title sold several thousand copies in its first year and laid the foundations for the success that followed. Osborne Books now sells around 100,000 books a year to schools, colleges and training centres throughout the UK and as far afield as Botswana, Bahrain and the Caribbean. Mike Fardon commented "We decided we had something to celebrate and I wanted to gather together all the people who have helped make Osborne Books a success and thank them for all their efforts over the years."

IMPORTANT NOTE! - AAT Personal Taxation Exams

Please note that the Support Booklet issued by AAT for Units 18 & 19 states (page 29) that the tax returns assessable in the Unit 19 exam are Income from Employment and Income from Land and Buildings. By implication tax return forms relating to Income from Savings and Investments and CGT will therefore not be assessed in the exam, even though, of course, they are in the Standards. A number of AAT Tutors have asked Osborne Books about the relevance of teaching these areas. The AAT have now clarified this issue for us by stating that although the excluded returns will not appear in the exam because of their complexity, they should still be taught, as they are part of the Standards.

Customer Comments

'The feedback from our students has been very positive. The books are well laid out and give the students a good number of practical examples. The explanations are given in a style that is easily read and can make the more difficult areas appear less daunting.'
Terence Pomroy, Tutor at Walsall College of Arts & Technology

'Business Accounts is probably the best introductory accounting book in its class (for AS-level/BTEC/NVQ). It would provide a good foundation for students on higher level courses. It is well written and has a clear, user-friendly format. The extended and fully worked case studies are excellent. Worth buying even if it is not your recommended text.'
Amazon.co.uk (29th December 2005)

'Excellent books, excellent staff. Always reliable and friendly. Your texts are used at all levels of our Business students' and AAT provision.'
Christine Davies, AAT Coordinator at Neath Port Talbot College

I just wanted to say how fantastic the NVQ Level 3 books were for Accounting. They really helped me and I passed both exams. Thank you very much.'
Vicky Ward, student at Bournville College

'I have been impressed with the standard of the texts. My students consider them to be excellent. Staff are always very helpful.'
Clive Davies, AAT Coordinator at Yeovil College

'Osborne Books' products are perfect for AAT levels 2-4 and match exactly the requirements of the NVQ Accounting Standards. They are easy to read and use, good value for money and the students love them.'
Valerie Malik, AAT Coordinator at Croydon College

'The books are easy for students to use, and easy to obtain. My students enjoy using the books and find them very informative.'
Adrian Sinclair, AAT Lecturer at South East Essex College

'The books have clear explanations and good student activities. Your service is excellent. I always receive books within a few days and I receive regular updates on your product line. I use your AAT books, Active Accounting, Business Accounts as well as general Business books for GNVQ and AVCE. You are my preferred publisher.'
Linda Daniel, AAT Lecturer at Coleg Sir Gar

'I much prefer Osborne Books' AAT textbooks. The overall layout and presentation is clearer than other publishers. The exam practice material is good in the Workbook, which leaves the Tutorial book easier to read.'
